2.3.5 Removal of humidity
The aerogel from Matsushita Electric Works Ltd. is hydrophobic [2-4], therefore does not require baking since it does not absorb water. This type of aerogel is also advantageous, since it does not require special storage conditions. However, if it is baked the hydrophobic roots are dissolved and it, then, becomes hydrophilic.
